Pass through our arched Indian doorway and enter into a world which brings to life the ancient wisdom of yoga. DYC was founded 16 years ago by Iyengar yoga instructor Fred Dowd. With his depth of yogic understanding, Fred established a strong and stable foundation which put DYC at the center of the Dallas yoga community. As owner and director over the past 8 years, David Sunshine has evolved DYC into a vibrant, open-hearted yoga community which continues to provide the highest quality yoga instruction as well as a number of other healing arts and holistic services.

With four gorgeous, naturally lit studios - DYC currently offers over 60 classes per week in the Iyengar, Vinyasa, Jivamukti, and Ashtanga traditions of yoga.
We encourage students new to yoga to try a Beginner Series which is specially designed for those who have never done yoga before. Every month we offer yoga weekend workshops and yoga teacher training intensives with the finest instructors from around the world.

We Offer:
Iyengar Yoga
Teaches Techniques of Fundamental Yoga Postures. Focus is on proper alignment and symmetry in each pose.Yoga Poses are held anywhere from 1-3 minutes.Yoga Props are used to safely open the body.
Provides a solid foundation for any yoga practice.Deepens the mind-body connection and builds inner strength and increased confidenceIyengar yoga provides a wonderful systematic approach for students who are interested in developing a comprehensive and solid yoga foundation. Iyengar yoga is marked with dynamics and precision allowing students to open the body in a slow and mindful manner. Invigorating poses as well as calming restorative poses will be taught with emphasis on proper alignment, symmetry and technique. Also in Iyengar yoga, students use yoga props to provide support while increasing strength, and flexibility and to help them remain in postures for longer durations of time.
Beginners - Designed to provide new students with the building blocks for a healthy yoga practice. You will be taught the fundamental yoga postures, their proper names, correct alignment and breathing techniques. Prepares students for Level 1.
Level 1 - Focuses on building strength and mobility in standing postures.
Level 2 - Introduces regular students to intermediate inversions, forward bends and back bends.
Level 3 - For advanced students ready to learn difficult postures and refine breathing techniques.Wall Ropes - Use gravity and the support of ropes and slings to deepen your yoga practice by safely opening the hips, hamstrings, shoulders and chest. All levels.
Ashtanga Yoga
Purify and Energize with Ujjayi Breath.Quickly builds both inner and outer Strength, Stability and Flexibility.Reduces Tension and Stress.
Ashtanga is a form of yoga that involves a vigorous and challenging flow of asanas that quickly tone, strengthen and purify the entire system.
Full Primary - The entire Primary series will be led with emphasis on refinement of postures and breath. This class will explore deeper elements of the entire Primary Series. Occasionally, pranayama and chanting will be introduced.
Mysore - Students will go through the primary series based on their own memory of the sequence. Staying true to the Mysore tradition, students continue to receive both adjustments and corrections to their postures as they progress through the series. Intermediate to advanced students are welcome to attend.
